MedNilam (“the App”) is developed by Alnilam. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the app.

1.Information We Collect

1.1 Email Address (Login)

We collect your email address when you create an account or log in. This is handled through Firebase Authentication and is used only to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Identify your subscription status
  • Provide access to premium features

We do not collect your name, phone number, address, or any other personal identifiers.

1.2 Subscription Information

If you purchase a premium subscription, we store limited subscription data such as:

  • Subscription status (active/inactive)
  • Subscription expiry date
  • Purchase token (technical identifier)

We do not store payment information. All payments are processed securely by Google Play Billing.

1.3 Medicine Reminder Data

You may enter:

  • Medicine names
  • Dose times
  • Reminder schedules
  • Alarm settings

This data is stored locally on your device. Some minimal data may be stored in Firebase only when required for subscription validation.

We do not treat this as medical or health record data.

1.4 Automatically Collected Data

We may collect:

  • Crash logs
  • App performance data
  • Device identifiers used by Firebase
  • Basic usage events (e.g., opening the app, interacting with reminders)

This data is used only to improve app stability and performance.

2. Permissions We Use

MedNilam requires certain permissions to function correctly:

  • Exact Alarm Permission – to trigger reminders at the exact time
  • Notification Permission – to display reminders
  • Do Not Disturb Access – optional, to allow alarms to ring in DND mode
  • Battery Optimization Exemption – to prevent alarms from being delayed

These permissions are used only for reminder functionality.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide reminder and alarm functionality
  • Authenticate your account
  • Validate your subscription
  • Improve app performance

We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your email, reminder data, or subscription data with any third parties for advertising or marketing.

We rely on:

  • Firebase Authentication
  • Firebase Firestore
  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • Google Play Billing

These services process data securely on our behalf.

5. Data Security

We protect your data using:

  • Secure communication (HTTPS)
  • Firebase security standards
  • Minimal data collection (email only)

No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your email and subscription data while your account is active. You may:

  • Uninstall the app to delete local data
  • Request account deletion via email

7. Children’s Privacy

MedNilam is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The latest version will always be available in the app or on our website.
